Start from a successful deployment

Run locally from the same directory and retain .rig.lock. Keep application data outside managed release directories. Incremental deployment does not re-image the workspace or rewrite your separate development checkout.

Redeploy a change

The CLI submits a release, waits for preparation, activates it, and waits for verification. Preparation runs install/build commands in managed release directories. Activation changes the service to the prepared release and can briefly restart it. For one app with local source, watch files:
Watch mode requires one local-source app; it is not supported for Git-source releases. Stop watching with Ctrl+C when finished.

Check and recover

If preparation fails, fix the install/build error and redeploy. If activation fails, inspect the terminal release state and current app health before retrying. Use app rollback to select a retained known-good release. Dependency declarations can enable cache reuse; a lockfile alone does not make installed outputs reusable.
